Out of town Bags

Having a welcome bag/box for your wedding guests is certainly not mandatory, but it is definitely a thoughtful gesture to consider for the travelling guests coming from abroad.
Who wouldn't love to feel cherished as a guest of honor?

So, For Your Special Day, Here are a few suggestions that you can use to make your welcome a little more welcoming! Every element is not required, so you may find 1 thing that's perfect for you, or all!

1 - A Thank You note, card or letter from you & your fiance. Keep in mind that each and every guest who commits to attending your special weekend is a special gift. They do not have to come, so show them that you appreciate their efforts in travelling to celebrate with you.
In most cases, they're bringing you a gift, taking time off from work & spending additional money for food or shopping while in town. A small note of thanks is a heartfelt gesture of appreciation. If you don't do anything else, at least have a Thank You!

2- A detailed wedding weekend itenerary: You want to make sure that your guests are aware of any special events that you may be welcoming them to attend, such as a Bachelor/Bachelorette Party, Rehearsal Dinner, BBQ, etc... Include times for the Ceremony & Reception. Yes, they should know this, but you never know who may have left their invitation behind & may be off 30 minutes!

3- Emergency Phone Numbers: There's nothing like coming into a new city & then ending up lost. Include a phone number for a go-to person or designated contact in case your guest(s) turns up turned around in your city. It's also nice to have an emergency phone number in the event that someone is ill, or has a setback.

4- More Information in a Fun Way: Something else to consider is doing a cute newsletter for your guests. This can be done in WORD or Publisher at home.
The newsletter can serve as an itinerary, a thank you, & a special place for how you & your fiance met, other fun facts about the two of you, local tourist spots, favorite restaurants & even list the wedding party info and how they are affiliated (example- Matron of Honor: Lisa Johnson, Brides Best Friend).

5- Fillers: Who doesn't get hungry?? Just a few simple snacks go a long way. You don't have to break your own bank in trying to be considerate.
Some snack ideas to include are: Water Bottles, Bags of Candy, Chips, Pretzels, Chocolates, Mints, Crackers & Cans or bottles of Soda. This is a great opportunity to personalize.

6- Delivery: Don't forget to assign someone to deliver these goodies to the hotel or place where your guests are staying (it very well may be you). Check out the hotel's policy in advance. They may charge a fee to hand out the baskets at the front desk or to the room.

Have Fun! This is an awesome project to involve your bridesmaids in to help you out with. You can make your goodies as detailed or simple as you'd like. To house the materials, here are a few options:

Paper Gift Bags. You can purchase these & adorn with a hang tag or label. Get Creative!

Bridemaids Cards- How to ask ?

To start the year 2010 with a nice idea, you will find hereunder a really sweet DIY project !!

I love the idea of formally asking those whom you would like to be in your bridal party.
I adore the paper chain people that we all learned to make in grade school and this project uses that simple concept to introduce your bridesmaids to everyone. Cut out the shape of the dress you plan on using in the color you desire and personalize each person with some paper hair. To complete the set I created a little card asking “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and included the wedding details for example.

Enjoy!

Anna of Rifle Design

Supplies:

1. craft paper (for clothes & hair), 2. paper for bodies, 3. envelopes, 4. ruler, 5. scissors, 6. pencil, eraser & a glue stick

Directions:

First, be sure that your chain will fit in the envelope you chose. I decided to make my chain about 6 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide to fit in an A7 envelope. Draw tick marks every 3.5 inches (or whatever width you chose) on the top and bottom of the paper for how many people you want to cut out (I chose 6).

Cut out your rectangle and score the paper vertically between each set of tick marks. This will make folding easier and more accurate. Then, fold the paper accordion style.

On the top of the stack draw the shape of your person. Be sure to draw the arms and legs to the edge of the paper so that they will be attached into a chain after you cut it out.

Next, cut out the person shape and open up your masterpiece chain! Decorate your ladies with dresses of your choice and different hairstyles to personalize them. I also drew faces and painted their names on each one.

To complete the set, wrapped a band of paper around the chain and information card and wrote the name of the person you are going to be sending it to.
